Yes, we have a drum set now. It’s a long story.
Ok, so my husband is a brilliant composer/musician and used to play drums in a rock band. He’s been itching to get a drum set for awhile, but we don’t have a soundproof room, so it didn’t really make sense.
Until earlier this month…
See, when my sister Crystal was about 10 years old, she wanted to play the drums. So my mom, who knew some first-rate professional musicians, got a great recommendation for a really solid drum kit. Crystal then learned to play drums on the best before abandoning the drums for ballet, and ultimately, the law.
What became of the drums? They were passed down to my cousin Jason, who used to live with our grandmother. So when he abandoned the drums, they remained in storage at my grandmother’s house.
She passed away last year, and as we were going through her things earlier this month, here was this drum set. Somebody said something like, “Hey, maybe Draco should get them next.” To which my husband immediately perked up, “Yes, for Draco. We should take those… for Draco.” Now you understand that Draco is 10 months old, right? He won’t really be able to play those for years.
So did the drums stay in their storage boxes and simply go in our attic? Or did they get unwrapped, scrubbed down, given new drum heads and then get set up in our house? Take a wild guess. :)
